Nicholas Day Biography
I am an accomplished healthcare leader with over a decade of experience in sterile processing, infection control, and healthcare administration. My career is driven by a commitment to advancing patient safety, operational excellence, and professional education—values that align perfectly with HSPA’s mission to promote quality, certification and standards in the field.
Currently, I serve as Regional Manager of Central Sterile Processing at University Hospitals Elyria and St. John Medical Centers. In this role, I have led transformative initiatives, such as implementing digital instrument tracking systems, developing standardized system-wide policies, and optimizing resource management to reduce costs while maintaining high safety standards. These efforts have directly improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
As Vice President of the Northeast Ohio Central Service Association (NEOCSA), an HSPA chapter, I have focused on increasing member engagement, expanding educational programming and strengthening community outreach. Under my leadership, the chapter was nationally recognized as Medium Chapter of the Year in 2022. Additionally, my innovative approach to professional development earned me the 2022 Feuer Accelerator Award for designing a healthcare digital competency management platform.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and Leadership and certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Yellow Belt), CRCST, CHL, CIS and CER. My expertise includes change management, policy design, and program innovation, and I actively participate in several AAMI standard working groups as my organization’s primary voting member.
If elected to serve as a Director on the HSPA Board, I would aim to leverage my experience and passion for education, quality improvement, and collaboration to support and advance the association’s mission. My vision for the future of sterile processing includes fostering innovation, enhancing member engagement, and ensuring that healthcare professionals are equipped to meet the industry’s evolving needs.
