Sterile Processing Leadership Manual

Sterile Processing leaders hold incredibly demanding positions within their healthcare facilities. Their many responsibilities include staff recruitment and training, managing day-to-day operations, and compliance with regulations, standards and guidelines.

HSPA’s Sterile Processing Leadership Manual is designed to support career growth and help leaders succeed in today’s complex and demanding SPDs. The newly released fifth edition reviews both management and technical skills. It is slightly reorganized and features expansions to nearly every chapter, most noticeably those on education and training, survey preparedness, quality and process improvement, and employee safety and emergency management. The text includes dozens of new photographs and reflects current best practices, including revisions to AAMI standards and AORN guidelines.

Building on the successes of the previous editions, the updated manual intends to be a useful resource for any SP professional aiming to broaden their leadership knowledge. Many also use it to study for HSPA’s Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) exam, which is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

The accompanying workbook will be available for sale in late June 2026. The boxed course will also be offered at that time.
