Sterile Processing Orientation Program

HSPA is pleased to announce the release of the Sterile Processing Orientation Program, a first-of-its-kind approach to new-employee training that supports existing hands-on learning.

The Orientation program is not intended to be used as a complete training program. Rather it’s an introduction to the SP department, providing new technicians with a basic understanding of the various workflows. This will be used in conjunction with already established department education and will support hands-on training. This is a self-paced program containing 7 modules that learners can navigate at their own speed. It may be completed all at once or reviewed individually prior to entering a workspace to help techs become more familiar with each area. As they move through the modules, learners will encounter audio prompts that will provide more detailed information and each module includes a brief knowledge check.

This self-paced program uses engaging content and audio prompts for deeper learning as users progress through seven key modules:

• Introduction to Sterile Processing
• Decontamination
• Preparation & packaging
• Steam sterilization
• Low-temperature sterilization
• Storage and distribution
• Use and transport

Each module includes a brief knowledge check and is designed to help employees become familiar with workflows and build confidence before entering each area of the SPD.
