Through March, Ofstead & Assoc. offering FREE Bronchoscopy Webinar

March 16, 2020

Through the end of this month, Ofstead & Associates is offering its latest webinar, “Minimizing the Risk of Exposure, Injury, and Infection During Bronchoscopy,” for free to all registered participants. The webinar is even more timely given the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. Here’s a brief synopsis:

Numerous outbreaks and patient injuries have been linked to the use of contaminated and damaged bronchoscopes. Residual bioburden in bronchoscopes can also impact clinical lab results and cause patients to be treated for infections they may not have. Bronchoscopes are used and reprocessed by diverse personnel in numerous departments, which makes it challenging to ensure that reprocessing is done correctly every time - especially when bronchoscopes are used in emergency situations. This webinar explores factors that contribute to patient vulnerability and reprocessing effectiveness. The presenter will discuss insights from her research and recommendations for quality management strategies that participants can implement in their own institutions. This course is designed to provide clinicians, perioperative nurses, Sterile Processing managers, and reprocessing personnel with information and resources that will enable them to evaluate and improve their bronchoscope reprocessing and maintenance programs.

Ofstead & Associates’ online portal currently hosts five educational webinars to help support healthcare professionals in making changes to policies and practices that impact patient safety and occupational health. To access the bronchoscopy webinar and previous webinars, visit https://ofsteadinsights.com/webinars and register. Note: In addition to the free bronchoscope webinar, Ofstead & Associates is offering a 50% discount for IAHCSMM members on its other webinars (typically $29). For the discount, use code: IAHCSMM20. Webinar participants are eligible for 1.0 contact hours/continuing education credits through IAHCSMM and CBSPD, and 1.0 nursing credits are also available.
