Remembering Our Veterans This November 11
November 8, 2021
Veterans Day, November 11, marks the official anniversary of the end of World War I. It honors the heroes of that tragic struggle and can lend itself to a rededication to the pursuit of peace.
This Veterans Day let’s hold our heads up high, our hands out in gratitude and our hearts in remembrance. This day is one to not only to recognize but remember all the men and women who valiantly served our country. It is about service before self; it is about an idea that we the people can take that first step based off faith and belief instead of doubt and fear. It is a day to be united in giving proper thanks to all our veterans for their selfless service. The dedication of all our veterans who served behind the “redline” and who continue to serve our patients during and after their military service certainly calls for our heartfelt recognition. On this important day, we show our support and gratitude and remember the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.
For our Association, Veterans Day is also a day to show our gratitude to the thousands of veterans who proudly serve as Sterile Processing (SP) professionals. We also recognize the service of our amazing SP professionals who work in the VA system, providing the best in reprocessing to our veterans and their family members.
IAHCSMM proudly recognizes the monumental importance of Veterans Day and is honored to show our appreciation to members of our military, past and present. We encourage all our members to honor a veteran in their life by showing up at local events, donating to one of the many wonderful organizations who work with veterans, taking a moment to ask a veteran about their service, and/or writing a simple card or email to a veteran— especially ones in a hospital or nursing facility—to thank them for their selfless service.
Veterans have given us freedom, security and the greatest nation on earth. It is impossible to put a price on that. We must never forget.
Always in service,
Damien S. Berg, BA, BS, CRCST, AAMIF
