Identifying Trends in Quality Events

Description

The quality event reporting capabilities within the SPM tracking system is a useful tool that assists the MGH Sterile Processing Department to track metrics of their most important objective, patient safety. Our initial assessment of the data led us to realize that there were gaps in the tracking system’s reports that could drive meaningful action. Based on these discoveries, we developed our own tracking system. After the initial quality review assessment yielded informational insights and to facilitate continuous improvement, we opted to conduct a 6-month quality check-in to assess areas of progress as well as identify any remaining opportunities for enhancement.
