To help advance patient safety, the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) created the HSPA Foundation, the Association's 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization. The HSPA Foundation's primary mission is to provide valuable education and support to Sterile Processing professionals through educational initiatives, research, scholarships, professional development grants, and awards.
The HSPA Foundation has established a scholarship on behalf of former Executive Director, Betty Hanna. Hanna was a true pioneer in the profession and served as HSPA (formerly 'IAHCSMM') Executive Director for 48 years. She was an integral part of the Association since its inception in 1958 and her more than 50-years history was a testament to her commitment to serving and supporting Sterile Processing professionals worldwide and ensuring that the organization met and exceeded those professionals' ongoing needs on all fronts—from education to certification. She strongly encouraged individuals to continue their education and pursue professional advancement opportunities.
These scholarships will provide $2,500 in educational assistance to a student seeking to pursue a secondary or graduate degree in the healthcare field. The scholarship can be used toward tuition and/or course materials.
Applications are now closed as of October 14, 2022.
This commitment to advancing Sterile Processing (SP) knowledge, skill sets and professionalism is why over 40,000 members and certification holders rely on HSPA to keep them sharp, focused and abreast of the very latest standards, best practices and technological advancements impacting the SP profession.
