Buckeye Central Service Association
About Us
We are a professional group of Sterile Processing, Central Service, and Material Distribution Technicians from hospitals and healthcare institutions in and around the Greater Dayton, Ohio area.
The original Buckeye Central Service Association had been an IAHCSMM (now HSPA) chapter for several years, but had fallen apart. The new chapter came into being in 2008 after John Best and Cathy Ly had attended the annual IAHCSMM meeting that year in Reno, NV, and decided to revive the old chapter. After a lot of hard work, perseverance, and dedication our chapter had its first meeting in August, 2008 with almost 20 attendees. We were accepted as a full-fledged chapter at the annual conference in 2009. Our meetings are usually every other month, and with each meeting we provide an educational presentation worth CEU points. In addition we put on an all day seminar/ vendor’s fair in the Fall. This past year’s seminar was a great success with 9 vendors participating and almost 50 attendees.
Objectives:
- To promote the education and general competency of Central Service and Sterile Processing professionals throughout the region;
- To increase professional standards and seek commonalities throughout the various facilities represented;
- To increase public awareness of Sterile Processing Technology, both as a career choice, and as a valued action of the healthcare industry; and
- To increase camaraderie and fellowship between various facilities both for networking purposes and to share information and knowledge pertinent to the field.
